I have a '93 NA, and was in the middle of removing the transmission and replacing the input shaft bearing last year when some things came up quickly that caused me to stop mid-project. Got it back up on stands today and realized I had left the rear main seal off as I was replacing all the gaskets back there. The car was parked outside in West Texas, so virtually no rain but plenty of dust and dirt. I already planned on changing the oil before I started it back up; should I be concerned about contamination in the engine to where I'd need to do something more drastic? Here is a picture I took today:
I may be overthinking things, but it ran nicely aside from the transmission noise so I'd like to avoid hurting it on the next start-up. If this is an issue and changing the oil won't be sufficient, I'd like some advice on what I can do short of removing the engine.
Thanks.
